MICHIGAN STAGE 2024 SEASON
LOST IN YONKERS | July 11 – July 20, 2024
Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon – Seaholm Mainstage Auditorium
Dubbed “the best play Simon ever wrote,” (New York Post) this Pulitzer Prize-winning dramedy beautifully captures the humor, conflict and heartbreak of a Jewish family living in Yonkers in 1942. Riddled with debt, Eddie takes to the road as a salesman, leaving his two sons to stay with tough-as-nails Grandma Kurnitz for a year. Left to contend with Grandma and cousins, Bella with her secret romance, and Louie, a small-time gangster, the boys are in for a summer they’ll never forget. Winner of the 1991 Tony Award for Best Play, the show remains as poignant now as ever. Performances begin July 11-20, 2024.
GUYS AND DOLLS | July 25 – August 3, 2024
Guys and Dolls features Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser, Book by Jo Swerling & Abe Burrows – Seaholm Mainstage Auditorium
Hailed as the perfect musical comedy. When Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town he turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough. As Sky is forced to right his wrongs with straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown, Nathan reconciles with the loving and stubborn Adelaide, his fiancé (of fourteen years!). This award-winning classic gambles luck for love under the bright lights of Broadway. Featuring hits Luck Be A Lady, Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat, Take Back Your Mink and more, Guys and Dolls transports audiences from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, even into the sewers of New York, eventually leading everyone exactly where they belong. Music and Lyrics by Frank
Loesser, Book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. Performances begin July 25-Aug 3rd. Appropriate for audiences of all ages.
PEERLESS | July 18 – July 27, 2024
Peerless by Jiehae Park – Seaholm Little Theatre
Diablo Cody said it best: Hell is a Teenage Girl. When a scholarship grants D the coveted spot to their dream college, ambitious, identical twins M & L will go to any length to usurp him.
Loosely inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Jiehae Park’s fun and twisted play promises a “comedy until it’s not..” With comic pacing only twin-telepathy can produce, this unpredictable story will have you laughing and gasping in the same breath. Performances begin July 18-27th. This Young Professional Ensemble Production features local youth, working alongside a team of professional artists and designers and is performed in the Little Theatre. Ages 13+ or accompanied by a guardian.
