Meadow Brook presents ‘Father of The Bride’ 1/10-2/4
Mr. Banks is your ordinary suburban dad who believes that weddings are just simple affairs in which two people get married. When his daughter, Kay, announces her engagement, there’s a wedding on the horizon. He just wants everything perfect for daddy’s little girl, but he feels like his life has been turned upside down. Now his jacket’s too tight, he can’t get a cocktail, and he’s footing the bill!
Father of the Bride runs January 10 through February 4, 2024, at Meadow Brook Theatre on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester Hills.
“Our audiences are going to love this classic comedy,” says Travis Walter, MBT artistic director. “Now, people usually think of the Steve Martin movie, but the original was made with Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor playing father and daughter. Generations of audiences have found this story entertaining.”
The large cast includes both MBT veterans and newcomers. Edward Juvier plays Mr. Banks with Olivia Kiefer as daughter Kay and Mason Gaida as her fiancé, Buckley Dunstan. The Banks family is rounded out by Jennifer Byrne (Mrs. Banks), Brady Jacot (Ben), and Wyatt Cleaveland (Tommy).
The remainder of the cast includes Chip DuFord (Red), Tyrick Wiltez Jones (Mr. Massoula), Angela G. King (Mrs. Pulitzki), Katy Kujala (Miss Bellamy), Stephanie Nichols (Delilah), Phil Powers (Joe), as well as Zander Brown, Raegan Cantrelle, Tyler Girand, Alexa Huss, Jacob Lipski, and Annabel Pulman.
Father of the Bride is directed by Travis W. Walter, with scenic design by Kristen Gribbin, costume design by Leslie Littell, lighting design by Phill Hall, and sound design by Mike Duncan. Brittanie Nichole Sicker is the stage manager and Stacy White is the assistant stage manager.
