Detroit Rep opens 65th season on 2/25
DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Repertory Theatre opens its 65th consecutive season on February 25 under the Artistic Direction of Leah Smith.
Asking Strangers the Meaning of Life, a play by William Missouri Downs making its world premiere, kicks off the season. The play, directed by Leah Smith, a comedy about our search for meaning in a post-pandemic world, will run through April 3. Night Blooming, a play by Joseph Zettelmaier, makes its world premiere April 15, will be directed by Kelly Komlen and run through May 22. This drama is about a nomadic Arapaho grandmother trying to reclaim herself, her abandoned daughter and precious grandchild.
Fairview, a comedy by Jackie Sibblies Drury, will make its Michigan Equity premiere June 3 and run through July 31. Fairview won a 2019 Pulitzer Prize. Will Bryson, a frequent actor at the Rep, will make his directorial debut.
