Wayne State makes season changes
DETROIT, Mich.–Wayne State’s Theatre and Dance Department has made changes to its 2020-2021 season as a result of the Corona Virus pandemic that cuts its current season short.
Department Chair and Executive Producer John Wolf said: “As I’m sure you can understand, the important and necessary social distancing requirements required the cancellation of our three remaining productions — Bus Stop, Mary Poppins the Broadway Musical, and Stage Kiss. These cancelations have taken an extensive toll on our revenue.
To make up for some of this loss, says Wolf, and because the company had already completed building the sets and constructing the costumes for Bus Stop, WSU has decided to re-introduce the show as part of its 2020-2021 season.
To accommodate this change, Bus Stop will take over the November slot (November 6 to 22, 2020) originally intended for Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ critically acclaimed play, Everybody. Wolf believes Everybody has value in our current climate, so we will keep the show in our upcoming season but will move it to the end of the season in place of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons (April 30 to May 16, 2021).
