From FREEP: MOT founder David DiChiera to retire in July 2017
DETROIT, Mich.– Michigan Opera Theatre has launched a national search to find a new artistic director, a critical step in reshaping the company’s future as founding general director David DiChiera heads toward retirement.
DiChiera, 80, who created MOT in 1971, already passed the baton as chief executive to current president Wayne Brown in 2014. Now a timetable has been set for DiChiera to hand off the artistic director role. MOT officials plan to have a new artistic leader in place by the fall to work side-by-side with DiChiera for a transition period until DiChiera’s retirement becomes official on July 1, 2017.
