DETROIT - The collaboration between PuppetART Theater and The Hinterlands Ensemble continues with the opening of the puppet-performance work "Dreamtigers" on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at PuppetART Theater in Downtown Detroit.
In 2011, PuppetART commissioned "Dreamtigers" as a new production for the 2011-12 season. The show was well-received by audiences young and old, and has been added to PuppetART's 2012-13 repertory.
"Dreamtigers" is a family-friendly piece inspired by the works of Latin American authors Jorge Luis Borges, Octavio Paz, Julio Cortazar and Gabriel Marcia Marquez that weaves shadow and object puppetry as well as physical comedy into a tale of wakeful dreaming.
Performances are Saturdays, Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24 at 2 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m.
Ticket prices are $5 for children and $10 for adults.

About The Hinterlands
The Hinterlands is a Detroit-based company that creates original, multidisciplinary performance works, explores the art of the performer through explosive and ecstatic training and play, and engages their community through direct collaboration and exchange. The company was formed in September 2009 and is made up of core members Richard Newman and Liza Bielby.
PuppetART is celebrating 15 years in Detroit this season. The theater was formed in 1995 by a trio of Russian puppeteers, all theater professionals. They began as a touring company and performed throughout Michigan and in other parts of the US. In 1998, the troupe established its own theater in Downtown Detroit. PuppetART is the only professional resident puppet theater in Southeast Michigan offering year-round weekly performances in conjunction with hands-on puppet making workshops and museum tours.
